First announced at The Game Awards in 2024, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the first mainline entry in Capcom’s samurai-based action franchise since 2006’s Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. Since that game’s release 20 years ago, Capcom has only kept Onimusha fresh in gamers' minds through a pair of remasters of the franchise’s first two entries, along with a virtual reality game, Onimusha VR: Shadow Team, in 2025.
