The game, which follows the story of siblings Amicia and Hugo as they flee the Black Plague as it spreads across mid-14th-century France, was a critical and commercial success. Moreover, in 2022, Asobo followed Innocence with a sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, which continues the story of Amicia and Hugo. Like its predecessor, Requiem proved to also be a success, receiving five nominations at The Game Awards 2022, including Game of the Year, and surpassing 3 million players by October 2023.
