If you've been here for a while, you'll remember our DEATH STRANDING Porter Spotlight Series from 2023, which was created to celebrate members of our community who consistently go the extra mile with their creativity and passion for all things DEATH STRANDING.We're excited to bring it back, this time with a focus on the cosplayers we've recently met. I'm Li and I have been a cosplayer for around 8 years now, throughout this time I have managed to make this little hobby into a side profession, working alongside brands and video games to promote different campaigns through cosplay! I am also an Astrophysics student at the moment - I have a huge curiosity about the world and I want to learn how it ticks! Outside of these things, I am a gamer at heart, I love playing music - whether that’s piano or guitar, and I have always enjoyed all things creative. I have been gaming since I could speak and I have always favoured story-based games. Tell us about your cosplay. Who are you cosplaying as, and why? This is my Tomorrow cosplay from DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH. I originally was going to cosplay as Higgs but unfortunately with the heatwave, I needed to switch my plans last minute - I give my hat to anyone who decided to cosplay Higgs during this heatwave. It was no worry for me though, I adore Tomorrow and without giving away any spoilers, her storyline is one-of-a-kind. She was one of my favourite characters from the second game! What game advice would you give to DEATH STRANDING newcomers? DEATH STRANDING is one of the most unique games I’ve played, that includes uniqueness with its gaming mechanics. Expect some weirdness, horror, calmness, tears and happiness - pretty much any and every emotion. Also, be sure to manually save so you can go back to different episodes once you finish the game - I made the cardinal mistake and did not do this. If you are ever prompted by a character to do something, there is a chance it will lead to an easter egg! Also, be sure to bring along a couple PCCs with you if you are using vehicles! What does the DEATH STRANDING community mean to you? The DEATH STRANDING community is unlike any I have been in before - without a doubt it is full of incredibly talented and creative people. I am so glad to have stumbled upon this game, as not only have I played a game that has some of the most unique concepts in gaming, but also I have made such kind and genuine friends who are very dear to me. I don’t know anyone who has played this game without taking away some of its messaging - whether it be about that connection matters, the idea that not everything is black and white, or that you are truly never alone. This game was not just an entertaining experience for me, it has reached beyond that. What advice would you give beginner cosplayers? Don’t be afraid to try something new or make mistakes - it is trivial but it is how we all learn! There are thousands upon thousands of tutorials online relating to cosplay, if you don’t know how to do something, someone will have the answer for you. It is also so important to not compare yourself to other cosplayers, we all started somewhere, and we all started this hobby for fun - don’t let anything stop that!
