Nivalis Nights - Update #2

Hi citizens of Nivalis Nights, As promised, we're back with another update! Following yesterday's patch, this one brings further performance improvements and fixes for more of the bugs you've flagged. We can't thank you enough for all the feedback, suggestions and bug reports you've been sending our way. They're genuinely shaping where we focus next, and we're doing our best to keep them coming as regularly as possible, especially around performance, while we keep a close eye on how you're experiencing the city. Here are the patch notes: Fixed blurry newspaper in the Hive Mall Decorative furniture with a configured storage or refrigerated storage value will now correctly count towards the venue's storage space Improved the display of skipped dialogue lines without a choice Replaced the treasure fishing spots icon to make it less confusing Configured the Kitchen Buffet as a storage unit holding 100 normal storage space and 50 refrigerated storage space Fixed cleanup icon display for the Large Sink Fixed an exception where cleaning a piece of trash already cleaned by a staff character could get the player stuck Fixed the counters at Odin's Pub Character optimizations (reduced bone weights on lower LODs) Older ingredients are now used first for mealmaking. This reduces the amount of rotten food generated, but might at the same time increase the chance of reducing the food freshness aspect of your customer reviews Your staff will now prioritise tasks in the following order:  Serve a meal Process ingredient Make meal at Food Processor or Drink Machine Take new order Deliver ingredients (Manager role) Buy ingredients (Manager role) Manage complaint (Manager role) Cleanup meal Cleanup trash (Cleaner role) Cleanup storage (Cleaner role) This encourages specialization. Single staff venues will likely leave many customers unserved if there are too many seats. Improved stability of fishing rod physics When overwriting an existing save, the previously existing save is no longer lost in case of an unexpected crash Graphic Settings: added a validation popup to confirm texture quality changes (a slow operation), along with a progress popup while textures are being reloaded Graphic Settings: removed the Low setting for texture quality (players using Low quality will automatically be upgraded to Medium) Graphic Settings: the game window is no longer moved to another, smaller monitor when changing game resolution Graphic Settings: fixed a case where resolution would not be properly applied Graphic Settings: fixed a case where "Reset to preset" buttons were unnecessarily displayed Performance: Implemented a light culling system to help improve performance. In the graphic settings, you'll find a new slider called "Lighting Details", which defines how many lights can be active at the same time within your field of view. With the slider all the way to the right, there's no culling at all; reducing it will deactivate lights based on distance. We'll continue to improve this system over time Fixed the location of trash bins for venues in Central Canyon, which were previously quite far from the player-ownable venues there. This will improve manager and cleaner behaviour in this area Fixed crowd characters going out of navmesh bounds/level geometry during dialogueVarious other bug fixes and improvementsKnown Issue: We have discovered that fast travel to certain locations can affect performance for some systems. If you do encounter performance-related issues after fast travelling, as a workaround, you can save after arriving at the new destination and reload that save, which should then reset the performance. Thank you for your patience, and we are already working towards a fix for this.We are investigating an issue where, in some instances, staff can get "stuck" - we think this may be tied to the number of "idle positions" that we have set for idle staff. As a workaround, we would recommend trying to reduce the number of hired staff at a venue, which can reduce the likelihood of this happening.

Nivalis Nights - Update #2

Hi citizens of Nivalis Nights,

As promised, we're back with another update!

Here are the patch notes:

  • Fixed blurry newspaper in the Hive Mall

  • Decorative furniture with a configured storage or refrigerated storage value will now correctly count towards the venue's storage space

  • Improved the display of skipped dialogue lines without a choice

  • Replaced the treasure fishing spots icon to make it less confusing

  • Configured the Kitchen Buffet as a storage unit holding 100 normal storage space and 50 refrigerated storage space

  • Fixed cleanup icon display for the Large Sink

  • Fixed an exception where cleaning a piece of trash already cleaned by a staff character could get the player stuck

  • Fixed the counters at Odin's Pub

  • Character optimizations (reduced bone weights on lower LODs)

  • Older ingredients are now used first for mealmaking. This reduces the amount of rotten food generated, but might at the same time increase the chance of reducing the food freshness aspect of your customer reviews

  • Your staff will now prioritise tasks in the following order:

    • Serve a meal

    • Process ingredient

    • Make meal at Food Processor or Drink Machine

    • Take new order

    • Deliver ingredients (Manager role)

    • Buy ingredients (Manager role)

    • Manage complaint (Manager role)

    • Cleanup meal

    • Cleanup trash (Cleaner role)

    • Cleanup storage (Cleaner role)

This encourages specialization. Single staff venues will likely leave many customers unserved if there are too many seats.

  • Improved stability of fishing rod physics

  • When overwriting an existing save, the previously existing save is no longer lost in case of an unexpected crash

  • Graphic Settings: added a validation popup to confirm texture quality changes (a slow operation), along with a progress popup while textures are being reloaded

  • Graphic Settings: removed the Low setting for texture quality (players using Low quality will automatically be upgraded to Medium)

  • Graphic Settings: the game window is no longer moved to another, smaller monitor when changing game resolution

  • Graphic Settings: fixed a case where resolution would not be properly applied

  • Graphic Settings: fixed a case where "Reset to preset" buttons were unnecessarily displayed

  • Performance: Implemented a light culling system to help improve performance. In the graphic settings, you'll find a new slider called "Lighting Details", which defines how many lights can be active at the same time within your field of view. With the slider all the way to the right, there's no culling at all; reducing it will deactivate lights based on distance. We'll continue to improve this system over time

  • Fixed the location of trash bins for venues in Central Canyon, which were previously quite far from the player-ownable venues there. This will improve manager and cleaner behaviour in this area

  • Fixed crowd characters going out of navmesh bounds/level geometry during dialogue

  • Various other bug fixes and improvements

Known Issue:

  • We have discovered that fast travel to certain locations can affect performance for some systems. If you do encounter performance-related issues after fast travelling, as a workaround, you can save after arriving at the new destination and reload that save, which should then reset the performance. Thank you for your patience, and we are already working towards a fix for this.

  • We are investigating an issue where, in some instances, staff can get "stuck" - we think this may be tied to the number of "idle positions" that we have set for idle staff. As a workaround, we would recommend trying to reduce the number of hired staff at a venue, which can reduce the likelihood of this happening.
