Path of Exile: Covens of Umbra Releases on November 13 PST!
Disrupt dark magicks and put an end to the powerful witchcraft of the Coven Queen in Path of Exile: Covens of Umbra.

Our November expansion introduces a new challenge league, a set of fundamental changes to the endgame alongside improvements to existing endgame systems, new unique items, and more!

Decide Your Fate
Encounter wicked covenites performing gruesome rites to summon their Queen, seeking to plunge the world into unending darkness.

Upon defeating them, you will get to select a Fate for the boss of the area you're in. Each Fate has a handful of effects, increasing both the rewards and difficulty of the encounter.

Empower Your Flesh
The twisted witchcraft of the Coven allows you to put the remains of your fallen enemies to use by placing them on your own Wickerman. Obtain Viscera from a defeated boss empowered by Fates to claim a scrap of their power for your own.

The Grim Fates
The influence of the Coven Queen can reach even the deepest memories of the Atlas. Grim Fates allow you to empower the most difficult bosses within the Atlas in pursuit of the greatest of trophies: Pinnacle Boss Viscera.

Perhaps... you'll even be able to hold back the Queen herself.

Introducing Threads of Creation
Scarabs are being removed and replaced by a new system, Threads of Creation.

Set directly in the Map device, Threads apply a chosen league mechanic to the area, while scaling the rarity and difficulty of monsters. For each thread spent, you'll increase the chances of random powerful effects augmenting that league mechanic!

Atlas Tree Overhaul
The Atlas passive tree has been completely refreshed, with a new layout, and dozens of entirely new wheels, stats, and effects - many of which were previously on Scarabs that you can now guarantee.

Improvements to Existing Leagues
In Covens of Umbra, almost every endgame league mechanic has been augmented, modified, or revamped in some way:
  • Mirages have returned, with a chance to spawn randomly in Maps - or as a rollable Map modifier along with other mechanics like Mirrors of Delirium or the Viridian Wildwood.
  • Slaying Beyond Bosses no longer stops monster Beyond portals from spawning. Sometimes when you defeat a Beyond boss, they'll open a portal to their realm.
  • The Sacred Grove no longer appears in Maps, instead being replaced with tangled roots. You can even use currency on them to add modifiers.
  • Gwennen now offers an entirely new service, but her gambling days are far from over. She just gambles on your items now!
  • Atziri has moved into the Temple of Atzoatl, kicking out the Vaal Omnitect, and she has made several adjustments.

Massive Loot Rework
In this expansion, we’re making fundamental changes to how loot drops in Path of Exile, unlike anything we’ve done before.

And of course, as with any of our releases, new Unique items have made their way to Wraeclast with this expansion.
