目前，進口鐵礦石約占中國鐵礦石總消費量的80%。
中國礦產資源研究院（CMRG Institute）市場研究與對外合作部總經理王奕琳在新加坡舉行的行業會議上表示，隨著需求下降導致產量減少，中國在全球鋼鐵產量中的份額到2030年將從去年的52%降至46%。
